Air Max day today
Today is AIR MAX DAY. A day to celebrate this amazing innovation of such an amazing design.
Thanks to Frank Rudy (RIP) for designing one of the most incredible developments ever for our feet.
It's said that the air sole technology was offered to other brands before Nike took it on. But those brands turned it down.
Now it is at the heart of Nike.

Reebok Insta Pump Fury 1994
The marmite of all Reebok styles. 
You either love it, or you hate it.
A real innovative and I useral design. The pump chambers are on the outside of the shoe giving an almost deconstructed look to this weird and wounderous trainer.

Puma Clyde 1973
For those that don't know, Puma is The brother of Adidas. Once united in business, a rift between them (proberbly a woman!) sent them on separate journeys. Adolf & Rudolf Dassler are the owners the two company's
Adolf owning Adidas and Rudolf owning Puma.
Puma has befn around since 1924 and continues to be one of the most individual brands on the market.
The Clydes are one of the biggest styles and are still in production today.
A rival to the Adidas gazelle or Nike Bruin
Back in the day and still managing to be so today.
Diodora Queen 70 1970
This is another of those brands that would not have made it into this club all those years ago. However, they were the brand of choice of the great Bjorn Borg.
Diadora was started in 1948 in Italy and rose to become a well respected player in the sportswear industry.
With there (slightly overpriced) re release in 2013, the brand has made a small come back.
This style is certainly a real cool retro look and would get heads and eyes dropping to your feet today.
FILA Apollo Hi-Top 1986
FILA was once one of the biggest sports brands in the world. Starting in Italy in 1911 is was seen as symbol of Italian design on par with Ferrari.
Endorsing the like of Borris Becker and Bjorn Borg. (Although apparel only as Bjorg wore Diadora and Boris wore Puma shoes.)The brand was certainly on the global stage and was going head to head with the other big brands but were no where near as expensive. 
Pony 1980's
Ok. Don't Laugh! 
Back in the day we may have thought these to be "pony" ( lol) and un cool.
However.......
Today a vintage pair of these May set you back the same as a pair of Jordan's!
So. Allow me to enter only the vintage styles into the Kool Kicks Appreciation Society and congratulate anyone one who still rocks the originals of this underrated yet testamented sneaker.
Nike Air Span 1988
Original colour way. These were re run in 1990 in different colour ways but have yet to be re issued like every other classic from the day.
Let's hope that nike don't go ruining these like the do all the others.
Keep them original! No need to change a perfect thing!
Reebok.....what ya know?
Reebok is one of the oldest sportswear company's on the planet. In 1890, a shoemaker named J.W. Foster who lived near Bolton, developed the first running shoes with spikes. This gave runners the ability to run faster as the shoes had more grip.
(Not good for road running) lol
Today the brand is owned by Adidas. But it has kept it's identity and is still one of the most identiyable shoe styles around along with Ben Sherman, Fred Perry and Rolls Royce.

Retro running style.
These are a 2014 re style of a retro classic.
A very sleek design indeed.

Hubba hubba hubba. Although they need more flesh to do it real justice. Flip flops might have made a better option. :-)

To be toly honest.....I was expecting these to be R2D2. They would have been the perfectly design given the shape and colours.

U can hunt down the galaxy with these on ya feet. Spared no detail (apart from a rocket pack) battle scuffed metal and a colour way to die for.

I was disappointed to see these. It's just a print. I get that it would be hard to make a pair of kicks into a round ball of destruction. But what about embossed or embroided details at least....
I put them back on the shelf and walked away.
The dark side was strong. But not strong enough.
Anyway...is be scared of destroying small planets if i had to run anywhere. Lol
Adidas Stan Smith (Millennium Falcon)
The ship that made the Kesslel Run in less than 12 parsecs 
Ok so it's cool to have the fasted rust bucket in the galaxy at the end of your legs.
U can do the kessel run in less that 12 parsecs in these baby's!
I do feel the detail is limited in these though. They should have added the iconic round vents and the blue engine details from the back of the falcon. And made the front more similar to the cockpit details.
I'd have purchased these if that was the case!
But still. A cool kick!

Adidas ZX 8000 torsion (Darth Vader)
I am your father!
Although the torsions make a good Vader. I really think these should have had led lights on them like Darth Vada's suit in the film.
If they put a Casio watch on a pair of micro pacers back in the 80's. Surely they can do led's now!
And maybe have them do the breathing when you walk.
How cool would that be!

The character packs were merchandised just like the original figures back in the day! Adidas really went to town on every detail. Even to the point of making sure the packaging did not get ruined when u opened them. Unlike the original figures.
Be prepared to pay a tidy sum for any of these baby's!

The very limited Reebok Voltron collection.
Each color coded pair came with its own voltron figure that all connect into the one big figure from the animated series.

Perfect for everything but working out. Lol
Would be every chavs dream shoe. Not anymore! Cool kids u know!
Puma Mostro
The puma mostro.
A crazy but wonderful design that put puma on cool feet as a rival to all other brands of the day.
Especially for astro turf, this was a surprisingly comfortable shoe that defiantly made a statement.
Leaving Nike
I feel I'm being just a little nike faverable, and since the demise of the Nike Air Max has been traumatic for me, it's time to give way to the other brands once more......
But no doubt I will be back with more of Nike later.
Nike Air Max 98 - present....
Well......
WTF happened here? Did all the coll designers all leave at once?
1998 was to me the death of the Max trainer style with no single decent styles that could be classed as cool. Certainly none that would make it in to this club.
Sorry Nike. But u killed it.
Proberbly why the re-issues are doing so well.
Keep it up but stop ruining them PLEASE!
Nike Air Max 97 1997
The first trainer to show it's entire air sole all round 360 degree vision. (Again, don't pop um) it's spacey design was undoubtably unique. This time it's the aliens space ship you're wearing. Not the alien itself like the 95.
This followed a year that didn't really do much for nike trainers. There were no real designs that can be classed as cool from that year. The max 96 would not be seen on cool feet.
But these made up for it!
Nike Air Max 96 1996
To be tatally honenest, this year was not a good year for the Max look, so I'm missing it off compleatly.
Look um up and you will see what I mean!
They are not for cool feet!
Nike Air Max 95 1995
The bad boy shoe of the day.
Not the first to have a front air sole. But the first to show it off with distinctive front windows.
It unique looks made it a statement to wear them. Like having aliens on ya feet.
Air max triax 94. Or air max 94. 1994
There were 2 release that year that both got dubbed air max 94. But I always feel this is the original.
Nike Air Max 93 1993
Nike air max 93. The first shoe to have a fully visible round heel 180 window.
Just don't pop it or they are buggard.
Re issued this year in original colour way :-) and some dam awful colour ways to :-(
