Nike Air (max) Tailwind 1992.

The second of the promenant releases of 1992 is these.
The 2nd edition Tailwinds have the Air Max system but are not officially known as Air Max 92.
Still a quirky and recognisable design. The arguments of the day were that these were 92's but the ST's probably fit the title better as they had MAX in their name and on the shoe. Years later, the tailwinds have the back seat with the re release of ST's in 2013.

Nike Air Max ST 1992

There was never a release officially called the Air Max 92. There was instead 2 very promenant releases in 1992 along side the continued release of the BW's. This is one of them.
These baby's are like the brother of Structure Triax. A good looking kick with the main colour detail on the inside of the shoe over the air window.  A suttle but exciting detail that makes them very distinctive.

Nike Air Mx 1991 (BW)

These were commonly known as Classics or BW's (big window). Re released several times since their first appearance but they really are still "classic"

Nike Air Max 1990

Need I say more!

Nike Air Max 1 (89) 1989

These were the first mikes to bare the name MAX. And it goes on from there.....

Nike Air Max

Let's talk about Air max. There is Nike, Nike Air then there's Nike Air Max.
It's a different technology all together.
So. Starting at the beginning, the next posts will be dedicated to the Max Air line.

Puma Disks. 1991

No laces. Just turn the disc and the trainer tightens. So cool.

Troop 1993

Hip hop hip hop hip hop!
Let's just say they gave Jordan's a run for the money. A short lived brand that made a lasting impact.
Roumour has it these baby's will make a come back!

Hi tec AbC (air ball concept)1992

One of the few lesser known brands of the day that made it onto cool kids feet. If you had to wear hi tec. It had to be these! The 1970s squash fanatics didn't really make it into the fashionable market. But these would be seen on some cool feet.

Nike Metro 1985

Nike Pre Montreal Racer 1976.

The shoe that launched a thousand track stars. Designed olympic runner Steve Prefontaine for the '76 Olympics in Montreal, these were the first shoe Nike designed for an individual athlete.
The original style was spiked for track running and is still used by some athletes today.

    Nike Air odyssey 1987

A classic running shoe from back in the day.
Another that has seen a re-issue in 2014. But is still quite rare to see.

    Nike Air Vengence 1982

    Nike Air Pegasus 83 1983

    The originals. apparently????
Although I’m not sure if this is just a current sneaker nike have made seem like and old re release.
Whatever it’s origin. This is a cool looking kick and it’s certainly one of the boys.

Nike moon shoe. (Waffle runner) 1972.

    Nikes first production shoe.
A take on the asics otnisuka tiger.
The most popular running shoe at the time.
Big thanks to Phil Knight & Bill Bowerman for giving us nike!

Notice the massive Nike logo on the side. U can’t miss it…..that’s the idea.
Now that logo is world famous and you don’t need to write NIKE next to it to know it.
    It’s done it’s job.
    Thanks to Carolyn Davidson.

Fact….Nike is the Greek goddess of victory.

A historic rumour………the swoosh, tick logo are actually the goddesses wings.
When look Down on a pair of Nike’s from above, if they have the logo on both sides they will look like angel wings!

    Nike Cortez Classic OG 1972

This is not the first trainer made by Nike. But it’s the first one to hit the streets. Based on the Otnisuka Tiger (can u see the similarity) before the AIR systems these basic leather upper rubber sole sneakers would still fit well in today’s fashion. Not bad for a 30year old pair of kicks huh!

    ASICS Otnisuka Tiger. 1969

    Anima Sana In Corpore Sano.
Not much has changed about these shoes since 1969. A few hundred more colour ways perhaps, but still the ultimate classic.
It was thanks to ASICS that we have NIKE today.
Nike’s moon racer shoe was a take on the Otinisuka and to look at a pair of Nike Cortez classic OG (The original 1972 Nike release) is Basically seeing Otnisuka with a Nike logo on.

    Adidas Micropacer 1984

A computer in ya shoes! Wow!
1984 originals are a premium if u can find um. The 2000’s re issues are just as much. But these are like having a game boy on ya feet. :-) well…ok a Casio watch. But ya know what I mean!

No better way to bring Adidas into a blog that this!

    L.A Gear 1990

    The original LA Gear.
Made a point of looking like the biggest styles of the big brands but only costing half the money!
Isn’t that a Nike flight? Or is it a Jordan? :-)
A relatively short lived style at the time. Now replacing the air system with flashing lights. :-(
But the originals still deserve classic status.

    Reebok AXT pump 1990

    Reebok SXT Pump 1989

    Reebok Twilight Zone PUMP 1989

The brother that followed the Omni Zone

    Reebok Omni Zone Pump. 1989

    Ok.
So maybe I’m being a little Nike bias here!
So. Let’s kick off some of the other incredible brands that make the KKAS club.
The Reebok Omni Zone PUMP. 1989
The first ever truly customisable fit shoe. Built in inflatable air pockets allowed you to manually pump up and deflate the inner sections around your feet. Along with Reebok’s hexalite gel technology and ERS (Energy Return System) in the soles, these classics are Utter blissssssssh.
Just don’t pump to much! :-)

Nike Air Structure Triax 91. 1991

The 2 face of trainers. On these baby’s the I outside air window is blue and the inside air window is pink. Unique and quirky and very cool.

    Nike Air Tech Challenge. 1989

My first ever pair of Nike Air's.
Back in the day it was not to be seen. A ugly bulky shoe that was out done by its close cousin the tailwinds. It would defiantly get in the top 10 now because of its rarity.

Re issued in 2006 on a limited run.

    Nike Air Command Force. 1990

Recently re issued and available is size, these baby's were already rare when they were originally released. A beautiful shoe. Good to see the original colour way back in stores and the old school look of the red white and blue. :-)

    Nike Air 180. 1990

The Nike Air 180 gets its name from the 180 degree air window around the sole so the entire air system was visible. A true innovative classic.
Back in the day, It was the assumption that the pinky red colour was for girls and the green was for boys that sparked off controversy with this classic. How wrong we were 😃
Unfortunately I feel Nike has gone and made a slight mockery of this shoe by creating some questionable colour ways over the past few years.
    Why why why?
Just stick to the original. No need to change a perfect thing.
The original colour ways are well and truly in our club and will always be my personal favourite. So there's no better shoe to start the nike edition to this blog with, than this.

    Keds 1916 - present

I'm sure you would all expect the first post to be from one of the big brands everyone knows like Nike or Adidas. But! I thought there was no better way to start this blog than with he first true sneaker.
Although other brands such as Dunlop, Converse and Adidas were around, Keds were the first company to give the name “sneaker” to the canvas bonded rubber sole.
This picture is the original 1929 basketball edition.
Don’t they look like converse or the nike blazer?
Each brand took there take on this shoe and made it their own. But the Keds were the first.

This is The Kool Kicks Appreciation Society. Whats On Cool Feet.

It's all about whats on cool feet.

This blog is for true lovers of all things footwear (as long as it's trainers)
Posts from the sole for the people who run up to you from 300 yards away to ask...
    "where'd you get dem?"
From rare retro and classics, to re-issues and future collectables.
Whats so special about trainers I hear you ask........
Well, without them, they are just feet at the end of you legs.

wear without care but care about the wear.
